Race #13 results from the Smoothie King of Belle Meade Sizzler Series make-up date on Saturday are here and posted with USA Cycling.

The penultimate race in the Gateway Tire & Service Criterium Race Series at LP Field turned into a record setting day.  With a full offering of categories such as a Juniors only, Masters 35+ and Women Cat 4 only we set a new one-day record - 133 total racers!

The race of the day to highlight was the Category 4 field, which began with 33 starters.  There were quite a few attempts at breakaways that never materialized due to the fast, long, and wide open four corner course.  With an average speed at 25+ mph it meant a pack sprint was inevitable.  In the end it was Joe Grubbs of Team Biker's Choice narrowly edging Steven Ragle of Cumberland Transit Cycling in an exciting sprint by less than a tire width!  Grubbs has proven to be the strong man of the year in Cat 4 as he leads the Words Go Here Individual Omnium, and this sprint was an exclamation point on his series' success.
