Results from Race #10 from July's MOAB Firecracker Series are here and posted with USA Cycling. Our next race is Wednesday, August 10th!
Another week boasting a heat index nearing 105 degrees was not going to stop area racers from burning rubber at LP Field at the Gateway Tire & Service Criterium Race Series. Every category had another stacked deck of riders to attack, chase and sprint against for the tenth race of the summer series. Long lived breakaways took a back seat to attacks and counter-attacks, which usually means faster MPH averages and tired legs tackling the eight turn 1k course. To top off the night we were treated with a cool fireworks display courtesy of the Tennessee Titans, that is if you stayed around after the Pro123 race.
Speaking of sticking around to watch; less experienced riders would be well served to stay and watch the Pro123 race each week. The guys competing in our premier event have the racing skills and tactical expertise worth emulating. Pay close attention to how they negotiate turns at a high rate of speed, move up in the field, attack and counter, and use team tactics to their advantage. If you are packing up and leaving without watching the best riders then you are missing a golden learning opportunity!
