Podium awards in the Gateway Tire & Service Criterium Race Series were finally decided after Race #14!  See the full report and standings here.

Normally the criterium series podium gets decided a few races before the final event, but in the 2011 Words Go Here Individual Omnium it took all 14 races to have it etched in stone.  With podium spots still up for grabs it meant the final race would see a lot of aggressive racing, but in the end it was the strong men and women racing to their strengths to solidify their top three position.  None of the racers gained position on one of the three steps, but more importantly nobody lost a spot due to a crash or mechanical.  After Race #14 the podium in each category ended where it began the day, but not without some drama and close point totals.  See the full standings link below for the totals and complete breakdown.

An added bonus and surprise this year was the individual trophies handed out to the overall champions.  Winners also took home the traditional championship belts and tiara, but I felt it was time to provide an award that would look nice on the mantel for years to come.  We also awarded plaques of appreciation for the contributions of our fabulous officials, Joey Holland and David Marshall, both of whom who have officiated the series since it began in 2005. 

To the 1,429 total racers who showed up, paid an entry fee and pinned on a number - thank you for making it a memorable 2011!
