March 15, 2010 - Bike Walk Tennessee is pleased to call for nominations to the first Board of Directors. Participation on the BWT Board of Directors is a unique opportunity for advocates who are interested in making changes across the state that will positively impact the entire population as we strive to improve conditions for bicycling and walking (running, hiking) as a means of transportation, recreation and exercise.

Any member or affiliate organization of Bike Walk Tennessee in good standing may be nominated or may self-nominate and there is no limit to the number of people nominated. We encourage you to forward this email to any interested party. Board members will hold the position for one to two years.

Board directorships include nine regional and six at-large positions. Filling the regional director positions is our highest priority. The number of directors from each region are as follows: Tri Cities - 1, Knoxville - 2, Chattanooga - 1, Clarksville - 1, Nashville - 2, Memphis/Jackson - 2. Regional divisions can be found by clicking on the different regions here.

Board Members are expected to attend monthly meetings using Web Ex as well as occasional face-to-face meetings as the board sees fit and serve on at least one committee. Regional Directors are required to establish and maintain contact with their legislators and the Tennessee Department of Transportation offices in their region, as well as rural, municipal and transportation planning organizations and bike/walk organizations in their region.

Before sending in your nomination, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the following:
