Howdy y'all! The Texas heat has found Northeast Texas at last and my riding has been forced to the wee hours of the morning. Each week my riding has increased, up to 11 hours last week. There is still some soreness in my lower back, but I have surprised myself with my progress. In just two weeks I went from barely getting through an hour and a half to pushing a pretty good pace through three hours.

In two weeks I will be driving to Longmont, a small town outside of Boulder. I have to redo my base miles and my coach said it will benefit me to do those at altitude. I'm looking forward to being near the mountains and enjoying the awesome riding that part of the country has to offer. As nice as it has been being at home, I am excited about getting out and away! It's difficult having been away at school, on my own, and then moving back home and being so dependent. I love my family, but after being so independent taking steps back was difficult.

No good stories from the road to recovery, just pushing on every day. Counting down the days until August when I'm cleared to race! Happy riding!

Thacker
