Topic : NashvilleCyclist jersey - would you buy?

Hello

For those who've been around long enough you know long ago there was an original NashvilleCyclist.com kit offered for sale to everyone.  Since then I have been asked countless times if I had any jerseys for sale, but all I've had available were for our race team only.

Due to the number of requests for a non-race team jersey I am wanting to create a "generic" jersey.  This new jersey would be uniquely different from our race team jersey color scheme and design.  There may be some logo/text similarities, but the color layout would be distinct and catching.

Here's what I need to know - would you purchase a NashvilleCyclist.com jersey if I provided one?

My decision to place this order is contingent upon receiving replies either here on this post, on Facebook, on Twitter, or by email at info@nashvillecyclist.com.  I must know specifically if you will buy one to determine if I should proceed.  Of course I want to know exactly how many to buy and get the financial side squared away.  The final cost depends on the size of the order, but I would expect it to be in the $75-95 range; the more I order the lower the cost.

My goal is to offer area bicyclists a jersey that pleases everyone in the community, one that everyone would be proud to wear.  Please let me know if this interests you.  My deadline to make a decision and place the order is September 13th, therefore I would want to know your info a few days prior.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Topic : 2010 Vuelta a Espana live coverage

FYI, I just saw that Universal Sports will have live coverage of the 2010 Vuelta a Espana, Saturday, August 28 thru Sunday, September 19 (http://www.universalsports.com/cycling/la-vuelta/index.html)(http://www.universalsports.com/cycling/la-vuelta/video-live.html) .  They’ve got this pick a winner sweepstakes too and the winner gets a 2011 trip to the tour, (http://www.universalsports.com/cycling/la-vuelta/sweepstakes.html). Who do you like to to take it all Andy Schleck, Denis Menchov, Tyler Farrar or Mark Cavendish?

Topic : race photos - links

For those of you taking photos at any racing event consider this - I would love to post a link to your photos for everybody to enjoy if you're willing to share the link with me.  We all get to see quite a few photos through our friends on Facebook, but we aren't all linked through that platform.  The photos can be from any type of race or organized charity event.

The link you share with me for your album can be from Facebook, Photobucket, Flickr, etc.  You may need to change your Facebook settings for that particular album for non-friends to view it.

Simply send me an email to info@nashvillecyclist.com with this information:
1) event name, date and location
2) name of person to credit the photos
3) the link to the main album for the event

I will then add your information within my photo gallery link section.  This portion of my site has been neglected, but I would like to revive it with your help.  The photo gallery continues to get quite a few hits despite the lack of freshness, but I am certain if you shared your photo link that many people would enjoy and appreciate the photos.

I look forward to getting many photo links in the future!

There is a cyclocross race calendar at www.tbra.org . If you have a mountain bike or can borrow one, you're pretty much all set. Don't worry about practicing. Just show up and race. You'll get the hang of it quickly. Cross is low key and beginner friendly.

Topic : Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana

Another great day at the Tour de France, with Thor Hushovd winning the 3rd stage over the disruptive cobblestone sections of the route that made this stage one of the hardest of the first week. Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara retook the yellow jersey from France’s Sylvain Chavanel with an overall time of 14h54’00” as the Tour entered France.

Even though the quest for the yellow jersey will be complete on July 25th, there will still be one more Grand Tour event this year: the Vuelta a Espana! You can watch coverage of the Vuelta at www.universalsports.com from August 28-September 19!

All:

So, I'd love to race, but to do so, I need to line up some childcare.  I have a 4-year-old son, Rohan (photo below), who's laid back, loves bikes, and loves to be outside.  I'd like to have him at the race, but need someone to keep an eye on him while I'm racing (1/2/3 race).  So, if you have a s.o. otherwise twiddling their thumbs, or if you're racing early and willing to stick around, just drop me a line at:

djcontraption@att.net

Thanks in advance, and I hope to see you at the races!

So he's finally admitted multi-year EPO use:  http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/cycling/news/story?id=5203604

I guess I'm not terribly shocked though it's kind of sad to hear him talk about just how pervasive doping is among pro-cyclists.  I have to say that the (in my opinion) ridiculous rules and hoops you must jump through just to become a pro-cyclist only exacerbates what guys will do to stay on top.

What are your forecasts?  We are almost half way through the Giro, who will be the final man to hold the pink jersey?  Stages have been so back and forth.

Topic : Greenway cleanup volunteers

The other day I received an email from the Greenways for Nashville group about volunteers to help cleanup flood damage on our Greenways.  See the info below:

Greenway Cleanup Volunteer Opportunities

As the waters have receded, it appears that overall (with exception of Richland Creek Greenway that suffered extensive damage and the Harpeth River Greenway bridge that was removed from its supports) the greenways may be in better shape than it initially appeared.

Metro Parks Maintenance division has done an incredible job of removing fallen trees from most of the trails and begun scraping silt from them.

Still, volunteer assistance is needed in cleaning debris from and scraping silt off bridges and boardwalks, fencing and under bridges.

Opportunities to help are below.  A heartfelt thank you to the groups that have been waiting until safety issues were assessed to jump in and organize clean ups.  You are appreciated!

Anyone wishing to participate in a clean up should register as a flood volunteer through Hands on Nashville at www.hon.org.  (This is important for tracking donated hours related to federal assistance.)

Gloves and garbage bags will be provided for about 50 volunteers at each site but please bring your own water and/or snacks.
